After the cancellation of the 2018 NASL season, the New York Cosmos B, playing in the NPSL North Atlantic Conference, represent the New York Cosmos first team. The NY Cosmos played a 10 game schedule from April to July, and finished with a perfect record of 10-0-0, a points per game record (PPG) of 3, and as the #2 overall seed nationally with a +32 goal difference (GD), behind the Laredo Heat with +33.

NPSL North Atlantic Conference Playoffs
The Cosmos secured a conference playoff berth by placing as one of the top four teams in the NPSL North Atlantic Conference table in June. At the end of the season, they were the number 1 seed in the conference, based on PPG. After defeating Elm City Express in the conference semifinal, and the Brooklyn Italians in the conference final, they will play in the NPSL regional playoffs.

NPSL National Championship
With a win over Elm City in the Conference semifinals, the New York Cosmos have secured a spot in the NPSL Regional Playoffs. The Northeast region rules state the the winner of each of the three conferences (North Atlantic Conference, Mid-Atlantic Conference and the Keystone Conference) will advance, along with the conference finalist with the best PPG record for the season advancing as a 4th seed wildcard team.
As the NY Cosmos have the best PPG record out of all three regional conferences, they secure a spot in the final. With a win over the Brooklyn Italians in the conference finals they've secured the regional 1st seed spot against the Northeast wildcard team, FC Baltimore.
